Programme overview

Come and learn from the best with Evelina London Children’s Hospital on our virtual revision course which will prepare candidates for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health membership (MRCPCH) clinical examination. It includes detailed introductions and small break out groups for you to practice communication skills, ethics and history taking.

Format

This highly practical course combines small group work, with interactive lectures, case studies and role play designed to help junior doctors prepare for what to expect in the MRCPCH clinical exams.

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) has confirmed the format of the February 2023 exam will be face to face with patients, involving patients, scenarios and role players.

PLEASE NOTE NO PATIENTS WILL BE PRESENT IN OUR COURSE.

We are running our course virtually and will be offering practical exam practice in communications and ethics, history taking, video and child development. For clinical subjects where patients will be present in the exam, we will be offering lectures on how to approach these cases and provide you with examination technique.

Course Directors

Sharon Roberts (MBBS, BSC, MRCPCP, PgCert Medical Education)

Sharon is a General Paediatric Consultant based at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital. She has co-ordinated the MRCPCH exam course since 2018 and taught on the course since 2015.

Sharon has a background in medical education, previously working as a education fellow at St George’s, University of London and has completed a postgraduate certificatate in medical education. She is the course director for the King’s College London Child Health Summer School. She also undertakes regular undergraduate and post-graduate teaching with a particular interest in paediatric simulation.

Bianca Tiesman (BSC Hons, MBBS, MRCPCH)

Bianca is a consultant in Acute and Complex Paediatrics at Evelina London Childrens’ Hospital where she is also joint Head of Service for General Paediatrics.

She has a special interest in simulation and Learning from Excellence.

Bianca has been teaching on the MRCPCH clinical course since 2009 and a director on the course since 2015.
