This STAC-accredited course provides expert-led training in intravenous conscious sedation, aligning with current dental sedation guidelines and including supervised clinical experience and portfolio development

Overview

This STAC-accredited course offers both theoretical and clinical training in conscious sedation using intravenous techniques, adhering to the latest guidelines set by the Intercollegiate Advisory Committee for Sedation in Dentistry. The programme is delivered by experienced clinicians with extensive expertise in dental sedation. Participants will complete a minimum of 20 supervised intravenous sedation cases and develop a comprehensive portfolio of practical experience.

Aims and objectives

This course will provide the necessary theoretical knowledge for the safe use of intravenous conscious sedation for dentistry:

The course will also provide supervised clinical experience in the use of intravenous sedation using midazolam.

Format

Training will be provided over 10 days by the Department of Sedation and Special Care Dentistry at Guy’s Hospital and will comprise of:

A knowledge and skills assessment will be mandatory for progression towards independent intravenous sedation practice.

Following the interview, the Course Directors and events team will notify you of the outcome.
