Programme overview
This session will look at the nutritional considerations of patients with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a rare skin condition that causes fragile skin blistering and can lead to severe malnutrition. Patients with this condition have high energy, protein and micronutrient requirements to support wound healing. EB can also affect the mouth, dentition, and swallowing which further compromises patient’s dietary intake. There are also a number of gastrointestinal complications often associated with EB in particular constipation.
Objectives
To have a general understanding of the nutritional issues associated with EB.
